Start with the Galaxy model identifier, not only a name such as “Galaxy S” or “Galaxy A.” Samsung puts the identifier and installed software details in two nearby Settings screens.
Record these details
- Open Settings → About phone, or About tablet. Record the model number exactly as shown, including its suffix.
- Open Software information. Record the build number, Android version and One UI version.
- Keep any regional or service-provider software information alongside the build. Avoid sharing the IMEI or serial number when asking a public firmware question.
Samsung’s model-identification guide also describes alternatives if you cannot use the Settings screen. The labels can vary with the device and software.
Check the offered update
Use the phone’s Software update screen to see the update offered for that device. Samsung also documents updating through Smart Switch on a computer when an update is available. Its Galaxy update instructions cover those routes and where to view the installed software version.
If you are evaluating a separate firmware archive, compare its full model and regional details with your notes. A matching Android version alone is not a compatibility check. Keep the source page and package instructions with the file.
