A Xiaomi firmware listing may offer a recovery package, a Fastboot package or both. Decide which installation route you are following before choosing the file.

Start with the updater

For a phone that can start normally, open Settings → About phone and tap the HyperOS version panel. Xiaomi’s HyperOS troubleshooting note describes using the three-dot menu there to download the latest package. Availability and wording can differ by device and software version.

Record the model and the complete installed build before leaving that screen. Keep the full build string rather than only its Android version or the word “Global.”

Read the package type

Recovery / updater
A package used through the recovery or updater procedure specified for that device. Follow its required starting-build and region notes.
Fastboot
A computer-based flashing route with separate device-mode and bootloader requirements. It is not a file to feed into the normal updater.

Xiaomi’s March 2024 HyperOS upgrade guidance distinguishes the updater/recovery route from Fastboot and discusses bootloader permission. It is background documentation, not a guarantee of current unlock eligibility. Use current Xiaomi support for your model before attempting that route.

Renaming an archive does not convert it into another package type. If the source does not clearly identify your device, region and installation method, leave that file uninstalled.
